Forever Young BBL
Forever Young is a treatment technique using BBL (Broad Band Light) to target skin molecules associated with aging while simultaneously stimulating your body’s natural ability to regenerate healthy looking new skin.
BBL is our go-to treatment for uneven skin tones, brown spots and red patches. It uses invisible infrared light technology to enhance visible skin color and tone, but also works deep in the skin at the molecular level to revitalize old skin cells.
In a clinical study*, skin cells treated with Forever Young BBL behaved like younger cells. These cells also look like younger, healthier cells. By periodically energizing skin cells with BBL, patients achieve younger looking skin – fewer wrinkles and lines, less discoloration /brown spots, along with smoother, even-toned skin (video) .
WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
Men and women interested in increasing firmness and elasticity, improving pigmentation (dark spots), improving generalized redness, and looking for a clearer and smoother complexion are good candidates for BBL.

Consultations are recommended for all patients prior to the treatment.

You may need to stop, or start, certain medications or skincare products prior to your BBL.

BBL works best on skin that is not tanned. You will need to avoid sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanning products for 10-14 days prior to your BBL.

Forever Young BBL can be used to treat almost any area of the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. Improvements can often be made on the legs, but the results are not as impressive.

WHAT TO EXPECT
After your consultation, we will send a prescription for numbing cream that you will apply at home prior to your BBL. Our topical numbing protocol will be reviewed in detail in the room. You can also expect to receive a call from one of our staff members to review how you should apply the numbing prior to your appointment.
The procedure usually takes 30-45 minutes. It is a good idea to wear comfortable clothes to your appointment. We use gel during the procedure which easily comes out in the wash, but it is not advisable to wear your best clothes for your treatment.
We place metal eye shields on top of your eyelids to protect your eyes from the light. It may feel warm and like a little rubber band snapping your skin. We blow cool air on you during the procedure to help keep you comfortable. Most people tolerate BBL very well and return for additional treatments.
RECOVERY AFTER A FOREVER YOUNG BBL

Expect a mild red, flushed appearance which typically resolves within a few hours.

Pigmented areas (spots) begin to darken and flake off over the next 1-2 weeks. Darkened, flakey areas of skin are often compared to “coffee grounds”.

Minimal discomfort is expected, and you should be able to return to all normal activities the next day, excepting direct sun exposure. Patients are encouraged to avoid direct sun for 1-2 weeks both prior to, and after, the procedure. You can still go outside but be sure to wear a good mineral sunscreen with at least a 50 SPF and wear a hat or sun protective clothing. Afterwards we recommend incorporating sunscreen into your daily skincare regimen to help protect both your investment and your new beautiful skin.

We may recommend a HydraFacial at 2-3 weeks post BBL. This will clean away any residual cells that have not yet sloughed off. The HydraFacial will also infuse your skin with helpful serums to support healing and skin health.
MAINTAINING YOUR FOREVER YOUNG BBL RESULTS
We want you to love your results and that requires a partnership. You can extend and enhance your results through good skincare, sunscreen, and the addition of some simple treatments.

For optimal results, we recommended 2-3 treatments performed 1 month apart if it is your first time having BBL. This is not necessary for everyone, but a series of 3 treatments gets your skin to the best possible condition prior to beginning a maintenance program.

Most people will benefit from having a maintenance treatment done every 3-6 months.

Periodic light chemical peels may be recommended to prep your skin for BBL, or to sustain and enhance your results. Patients with extreme sun damage often benefit from a series of chemical peels prior to their first BBL treatment. A series of peels provides “a clean slate” for the BBL light and allows for the greatest impact on darkened or reddened areas.

Medical grade skin care will also help maintain your results. We always recommend a mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. EltaMD has several options. We also like SkinBetter Tone Smart and ISDIN (which has an added DNA repair component). Most of these brands offer both a tinted and non-tinted version.

BBL & HALO – A PERFECT PAIR
BBL on its own is a very effective treatment. However, when paired with the HALO, which unlike the BBL is considered a true laser, the results are even more astounding. HALO not only creates direct pathways for pigmentation to release from the surrounding epidermis, but also helps stimulate collagen and elastin production for the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, reduction of pore size, and tightening and toning of the skin. Downtime is around 7 days but is well worth it. The HALO/BBL combination treatment promotes better light reflection from your skin giving what is known as the “HALO glow”.
