PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is an incredibly safe treatment that allows us to boost your healing and tissue rejuvenation by using concentrated growth factors and cytokines from your own blood. PRP has been used medically since the 1950s, but only became popular in cosmetics within the last 20 years. Many people first learned about PRP from the term “vampire facial”.

While PRP can be used in a variety of medical and cosmetic treatments, at Yag-Howard Cosmetic Dermatology (YHCD) we frequently use PRP with three of our services:

PRP is incredibly safe because we use your blood. We draw a tube of blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate blood cells from serum, while concentrating the platelets in the serum. Your platelet-rich serum is then transferred to a tube to be used in your treatment.

Growth factors and cytokines within the PRP are lightly massaged (Halo & SkinPen) or injected (scalp) into the treated area.

While results vary by patient, at YHCD we believe patients treated with PRP see approximately 20% better healing and treatment results vs. patients without PRP.
